■タイトル:3D Pattern formation in the Arabidopsis embryo

■要旨
Plant morphogenesis is a genetically controlled process, and a key question is how gene activity translates to shape. We study this problem in a simple model system, the Arabidopsis embryo. Several genes have been isolated that regulate cell division and patterning during early embryogenesis1, however little is known about the cellular mechanisms underlying the regulation of patterned growth. Additionally, while development is inherently a 3-dimensional process, it has so far only been studied in 2D. To determine the cellular basis of patterning, we established a method to visualize and segment the embryo in 3D and have generated a complete reconstruction of cell divisions in the early embryo. The result from the analysis of 3D images of embryos will be discussed.
